![]() ![]() The author Ionesco’s work is generally recognized as Absurdist, in a similar vein as Samuel Beckett, author of “Waiting for Godot.” So perhaps it comes as less of a surprise that, in the course of “Rhinoceros,” all of the characters (except the lead) turn into rhinoceroses. However, this only made the show particularly singular, with a small house, a runway-style stage and a picturesque window to outside. The Barn, a studio lurking behind the Anteater Recreation Center, is an uncommon performance space, likely owing to its isolation from the rest of the campus. Written by Eugene Ionesco and performed in UC Irvine’s secluded Grotowski Barn, “Rhinoceros” confused, amused, and rampaged in its own right. If one thing can be said about “Rhinoceros,” it’s that the show is not what you’d expect. NIKKI JEE | Staff PhotographerTaylor Jackson Ross and Will Cranmer are just two of a mötley crüe of actors who slowly turned into rhinoceroses this past weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() Strange to rate a colouring book but the art in this is exquisite, a mix of highly detailed to fairly simple with plenty of room for expression while colouring or adding details. I felt like this picture was too plain so I added a Harry Potter quote. "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." -Albus Dumbledore This is my first project I've done since starting college and it was such a nice de-stresser. This was just so much fun and the color schemes make my eyes happy.:D This was a lot of fun to color after taking a long break. I'm so proud of this because it took me forever to do! This is probably one of my favorite pieces so far and I love the concept of just using pinks and blue tones as the basis for the piece. ![]() It took me a while to do this one because I was so busy, but I'm definitely going to take time when I feel stressed to do this while I watch a movie or TV. I messed up a little bit on one of the color patterns, but I really like the design the more I look at it. I used fine, fine tip Sharpies and Crayola color pencils. ![]() ![]() This image took me about four days to color. The end result or even just completing small portions of the page makes me truly happy to see that I've participated in bringing a simple image to life. I've started my journey into adult coloring and so far have discovered that it's a relaxing process. ![]() ![]() Dove''s selection-and this book-will long stand as the definitive anthology of American poetry., "Selecting poets and poems to represent a century of poetry, especially the riotous twentieth century in America, is a massive undertaking fraught with peril and complication. The sound is very well used, the mutants screech and the voice acting is very good, Marilyn Manson is beautifully cast as the big grey and adds that extra creepiness to the game. The alien weapons are very good, and are extremely useful against the aliens The graphics are a very good standard considering this was brought out a while ago, the blood and goo go flying every where and some of the stuff you see is very unnerving. The game play is good, the controls are easy and the weapons, even though are fairly standard, are put to good use in this game. It does this well and makes you think if this could all be true, it is very well played out. It may not be much, but the story contains every conspiracy theory in the book, the moon landing, aliens, government corruption. The plot revolves around a Hassmat team sent in to clean up after an alien virus is set loose in the base. While the debate began rooted in linguistics and theory of knowledge (the core interests of the two philosophers who are arguably the defining academic minds of the late twentieth-century) it became a much wider discussion, encompassing topics from history and behaviourism to creativity, freedom and the struggle for political justice. Their debate was one of the most provocative and original debates to have occurred between contemporary philosophers and serves as a concise introduction to their respective philosophical theories. In 1971, at a time of enormous political and social change, two of the world's leading intellectuals, Noam Chomsky and Michel Foucault, were invited by the Dutch philosopher Fons Elders to debate the question: is there an 'innate' human nature independent of our experiences and external influences? In this paper, we seek to examine the philosophical and ontological implications of Chomsky’s claim that human nature derives from the innate dimension of the language faculty. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "What is going on?
